Last month, a group of my dear colleagues in San Jose, CA were gone. Broadxent is no longer active.
Yesterday, I received another phone call from another colleague in Singapore who informed me of his changes too.
These were colleagues that I worked with since the first day of work in the company, 6 years ago. They are experienced professional employees who have families; wife and children and have been with the company for more than 10 years.
Loyalty.
I sure hope they receive a good deal. Having said that, Creative has been a very gracious company. We all know this day would come eventually, and were somehow 'prepared' for it. I got 'lucky'.
Complacency is a very controversial attitude to possess in life, I find. On one hand, you can be sure that people who are complacent won't endanger or cause trouble in your life. They are the 'peaceful' people. On the other hand, the same group of people is not able to advance, generally. They need a leader to motivate and direct them.
I suddenly just thought about complacency, not because that's how I felt my colleagues are. Believe me, we've transferred several times within departments in the company to stay so long.
It's just that the human nature tends to be lazy. People get used to something, comfortable with it, grow onto it and finally stick to it. Many times, before they can 'stick' to something, it's time to move on again. Then they have to re-adjust to the adaptation, assimilation... and the cycle goes on.
So be prepared for changes, whether as an individual, as a couple or as a unit in a community. Changes are good. What's food without some sprinkles of wonderful spices?
Maybe I should use the term "metamorphosis" instead of "change", as "metamorphosis" gives a more positive perspective than "changes".
