F*** - My apartment was broken into today

Not the worst phone call to receive, but well, it's bad enough...

I was on the way home after class, walking towards the T. Then... Asaf called. When he told me they went through all his stuff, his mac was gone - i just kept quiet. didn't even dare to ask him about my room.

When he sounded more settled, i asked whether could he see any laptop in my room. Obviously, the reply was "NO".

When i finally arrived home, the first thing i saw was my harp was still there. first glance into my room, my dell inspiron was gone. so were my speakers. went to his room. Was in a pretty bad shape, cos he had everything laid out in the room, whereas i haven't really unpacked since i came back.

Went to my room. I don't even know what was missing, except for the 2 obvious ones, and since my room was pretty 'clean' (empty).

Couldn't get hold of my supervisor, as i was supposed to start work at 2pm. Went to office to inform Wendy, my supervisor that i can't make it for work. Missed 2 hours of work. Wendy helped us call student affairs to ask what should we do. Aileen, another office staff tried calling the police.

Went home. Police came after an hour or so. Later on only i realized i had more stuff missing. My cellphone charger - my goodness, why my charger when you don't even have my phone!?! My mp3 players - 2 of them, my bag of quarters (i guess they need to do laundry too).

Even later on while having a conversation with another friend, i realized i lost my camera, tuner and metronome too. wtf.

The best part was - cos i brought my laptop and speakers from singapore, they were using the Singapore/Malaysia 3-pin plugs. And their solution - they decided to take my converter and power strip.

One funny point though, despite all the negativity, I left 2 $20 vouchers for Applebee's and TGIFridays on my desk. The TGIFriday's voucher was left there. I guess they figured that TGIFriday's can't be found in Boston anymore! haha...

Well, there are other things to be thankful for... our wireless was untouched, and so were our external HDD. Mine was still in the box in the closet. Asaf's - we figured either they didn't know what it was, or they were just being 'gracious' to us. Afterall, it's our work in the computers that we are more concerned with, rather than the physical computer itself.

So at the end of the day, Asaf's mac is insured and so he'll eventually get a replacement. Mine.... what's gone is gone. No point brooding over it.

Actually I forsee this would happen, cos my room windows don't have grills. And one of the windows' lock was broken. Management doesn't want to do anything about it. So what can i do? I don't have the freaking time to pester them to fix these stuff...

Well, since now all my valuables are gone, except for my mac (I decided to bring it with my to school today) - all the more i don't need 'security' anymore.

F*** it.
