I was honoured to be one of the interviewee for the VOA radio broadcast. It's also my first ride on the Metro in Washington D.C! It was pretty fun, since this day was supposed to be out free day.
The interview went well. Ms Faiza elMasry asked us about the tour and how we enjoyed the tour so far. She also asked questions like what have we learnt so far and the personal experiences that we've gained so far. I touched on the topic of cultural discrimination. Many people, sorry to say, especially Americans, are really ignorant about the difference among cultures of the world. Any other people who look and speaks different from a typical american is often regarded as an outsider. Basically, these outsiders are categorized into 3 main groups, I think. We are either Chings, Arabs or Indians. To make matters worse, some people would just differentiate us by our skin and hair color.
I'm glad that I joined this tour and have the opportunity to explain more about my country and culture.
Well, after the interview, I met up with Anthony and Elizabeth and we went to Pentagon City to shop for a few good hours. I bought some toiletries and a SD card reader. and all of us bought a pair of sunglasses each for $8 each. =)
