After the amazing time we had in Houston, it was time to move on. We arrived Los Angeles at about 3pm and were picked up by Mohannad Malas - with a 40 seater bus.
After about an hour's journey, we arrived at Bana Hilal's lovely home @ Orange County for lunch, thereafter to our individual temp host families over the weekends. Some of the tour members decided to go back to LA for the weekend instead.
Sofia, Elizabeth, Lily and I lived 5 minutes away from Bana's home over the weekend and were hosted by Dr. Lina Kreidie. The next day, Sofia, Lily and I had brunch at Dana Point, a small pier near home while Elizabeth went to church with Anthony. In the afternoon, Sofia and I joined Lana, Lina's daughter, to Del Mar (45 min away from O.C, in San Diego). We walked around and visited the beach briefly while Lina celebrated her friend's birthday over lunch. Then we went back home.

This morning we gathered at Bana's home again, picked up our instruments and left for our respective host families for the rest of our stay in LA.

Upon arriving Redlands, the folk, celtic and tango group gathered to have lunch at Joan's home. Sofia, Xiaodan, Pearla and I are staying here for the rest of the week.

Tomorrow we'll start performing at different locations until Friday. We'll have another weekend off and thereafter a rehearsal on Monday and the concert at Royce Hall on Tuesday.

Our host Joan, is a single caucasian mom who adopted 2 asian children, Marian and Ellen. Guess what, their nanny, Hetty is from Indonesia! As I explored their home, I came across this framed poetry entitled "Legacy of an Adopted child". I thought it was beautiful and decided to add it on to my blog. Here's pic of Ellen and I and the other one with Marian...
