Jammin sessions with the gals of Berklee

I recently joined a group of gals in their jamming session (it made my weekends more meaningful now). Well, I was supposed to join them since last semester, but I guess my motivation gathered momentum only this semester. It was awesome! Though I still feel like I'm sorta invading the original 4 members, namely Jenna, Keiko, Mi Ho and Miduri; I really enjoy the sessions and their company.

It's just so amazing to see what music can do - overcoming all other form communication barriers. Jenna (vibraphone) is from South Dakota, Keiko (piano) and Midori (drums) from Japan, and Mi Ho (Acoustic Bass) from Korea. Other than myself, another new girl joined the group - Florencia (tenor sax), from Uruguay. You should hear us communicate. I believe you can hear a mosquito flying past you, cos there're always pauses between phrases and sentences. The most often heard word is "Huh?" and "Oh!". Fortunately, this happens only at the beginning and ending of each tune. Communication DURING playing was good. Of course there were times where we got lost, mis-intepreted some hand signs and signals, but we still manage to complete each tune - somehow.

Ahh... the beauty of practising the art of music - a life with minimal words.

Jenna was too shy to take pics with us... hahah...
